NCABSE recognizes the importance of honoring educators who stand out in their roles as educators every day. Educators and leaders in North Carolina have done amazing work to ensure that the needs of students are met during the most challenging times. We also believe it is very important to acknowledge the outstanding work of others. Please read the award description and nominate someone whom you strongly feel deserves the recognition. - NCABSE Award - The NCABSE Award recognizes distinguished individuals and organizations who made influential contributions to the lives and progress of African-American educators and communities. The recipient should exemplify NABSE's vision in carrying out its mission and goals.
- Community Service - Host City Educator and others who have made an outstanding contribution to the local school system
- Distinguished Educator - For exceptional leadership qualities and making systemic impacts in the field of education.
- Risk Taker Award - Individuals who have undergone great personal and professional sacrifice in service to the educational advancement of African Americans.
- Outstanding Teacher of the Year - Recognizes individuals who have demonstrated unparalleled ability, commitment, and innovation in enhancing the quality of education for African Americans.
- Principal of the Year - For demonstrating outstanding leadership and creating a greater sense of community among students, teachers, staff, parents, and the community.
- W.E.B. DuBois Higher Educator- Recognizes an individual or organization that is actively promoting higher education for the African-American Community.
